Dear Families,

As we prepare to begin what is sure to be an amazing first year at Hanover Hills Elementary School, we wanted to take a moment to update you on our staffing and schedule. This year, our first year as Huskies, will be a journey filled with excitement and promise. As a school, we are committed to the Howard County Public School System’s vision of ensuring that every student and staff member embraces diversity and possesses the skills, knowledge and confidence to create a positive and welcoming school community.

Our devoted staff are busy preparing for your student’s arrival. Our fantastic front office team is registering new families, ordering needed materials and updating student files. Our hard working and conscientious custodians have spent the entire summer thoroughly cleaning and preparing the facility. Finally, our much-appreciated PTA steering committee is gearing up to create an amazing PTA program, one that will welcome families, provide volunteer opportunities, and offer other exciting events and programs. We are indeed a caring and dedicated school community with the common goal of nurturing our respected future learners.

At Hanover Hills Elementary, we truly value a strong home-to-school connection. We encourage you to contact us with any questions or concerns, and to stay in the know about your child’s studies, assignments and school activities. We extend a special, yearlong invitation to all of our new families to join us at school activities and events whenever possible. If our recent Popsicles on the Playground event is any indication of how involved our school community will be, we certainly look forward to the exciting journey ahead!

Enjoy these remaining summer days with your family. From the entire Hanover Hills staff, we welcome you and look forward to a very positive and productive year together!

Troy Todd and Leslie Harmon.

Student Placement

A great deal of time, effort and thought has gone into the process of student placement for the 2018-2019 school year. Each of our grade level team leaders received feedback from your student’s previous teacher, which allowed them to balance the needs of each student both academically and socially. Our class lists were structured to provide equitable class sizes at each grade level.  Please Note: The month of September is often a time of transition. As we get to know your student through observation and assessment, class placements may change. Any changes will be communicated by the classroom teacher. We appreciate your understanding and flexibility.

Families who have updated their student’s Emergency Card via the Family File on the HCPSS Connect will be able to log into their student’s Family File on Monday, August 27th at 9:00 AM to view their student’s homeroom assignment. Please Note: Kindergarten students will be placed into color groups during the first week of the academic year and will receive their homeroom assignment on Friday September 7th. If your student’s Family File has not been completed, the Homeroom Teacher will not be available to view online. For more information, please visit: https://www.hcpss.org/f/connect/family-file-flyer.pdf
